About the Author

Miriam Toews is a Canadian author from Manitoba who grew up in a Mennonite family. Ever since departing from the Mennonite culture at the age of eighteen, she has written several books, some which include A Complicated Kindness, Summer of My Amazing Luck, A boy of Good Breeding, The Flying Troutmans and Swing Low: A Life. The 2004 novel A Complicated Kindness was her breakthrough work as it won the 2004 Governor General's Literary Award, it was a 2004 Giller Prize Finalist and it spent over a year on the Canadian bestseller lists.
